Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) updated its recommendations in February 2022 and published national knowledge support in December 2022. Hormone treatment for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria was pulled back to research settings or exceptional cases. That is a restriction. Doctors were told the evidence does not support routine hormones.
This is not the 2011 Dhejne long-term study of adults after surgery — different paper, different decade, still damning. Sweden looked at the pediatric evidence and slammed the brakes.
Schools. Skolverket’s Lgr22 (in force 1 July 2022) renamed the old sex-and-relationships area sexualitet, samtycke och relationer. The agency’s official English note says the 2022 curricula added texts on gender equality and comprehensive sexuality education, including identity.
