Singapore’s health ministry puts psychological support first. Hormones and surgery should not be offered under 18.
1. 6 May 2026 — official parliamentary answer. Supporting youths with gender dysphoria:
- Gender dysphoria in children and adolescents is diagnosed by a psychiatrist. - Care is by a multidisciplinary team. - Psychological support should be the first line of treatment. - Hormonal and surgical treatment should not be offered for children and adolescents under 18. - Ages 18–20: hormonal therapy excluding pubertal suppression may be offered only in exceptional circumstances, with clear evidence of benefit, multidisciplinary team agreement, and informed consent from the adolescent and their parents.
2. 7 January 2025 — official parliamentary answer. Prescription of puberty blockers: there is insufficient evidence that puberty blockers are safe or of significant clinical benefit for minors with gender dysphoria. MOH does not recommend them for that use.
A May 2026 practitioner circular (reported as MOH Circular No. 44/2026, “Treatment Guidelines for Children and Adolescents with Gender Dysphoria”) is the internal guideline those answers describe. The HCSA page that briefly hosted it now returns 404. Until MOH or HCSA posts that PDF again, these two newsroom answers are the authoritative public text. Singapore is marked Restricted.
