On 19 November 2025 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published Treatment for Pediatric Gender Dysphoria: Review of Evidence and Best Practices. This is an evidence review. HHS’s own umbrella review found the overall quality of evidence on psychological outcomes, quality of life, regret, or long-term health very low. The harms of what HHS later calls “sex-rejecting procedures” — puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries — are not a mystery. Infertility is on the list.
